This page is for discussion of stuff related to the game coming up this week, no matter when that actually is. For instance, we can all assume Nate isnt coming for some lame reason and that Ed is sick of pizza and is bringing teriyaki or some other crap. They can post something here if that happens to be untrue.

Gabe - Alright doesn't seem like I'll be making it. There is a chance I might come late but unlikely. Sorry 'bout that.
--Dieter the Bold 14:09, 10 May 2007 (MST) Present and interested in pizza.

GABE: what day of the week are you planning to run your fantasy game? (ben)
--Gdaze 11:25, 30 April 2007 (MST) We will most likely be running it on either Saturdays or Sundays... usually alternating it somewhat.
--209.124.189.39 13:35, 8 May 2007 (MST) finished reading the Watchmen last night. really awesome ending. SPOILERS alert---> Ozymandias reminds me of Emperor Jin, the sort of long range planning and ruthless desruction of millions of lives to accomplish the goal of peace.
--BenofZongo 14:53, 8 May 2007 (MST)Call me a "happy endings" pussy, but I actually don't like those kinds of endings. I actually got to thinking about this after watching this movie "after the wedding": a different angle, but I also feel like it was sort of about what sorts of actions are justified by the ends they accomplish. Maybe I just really don't like the rather obvious idea that morality is completely relative (also the topic of a Tom Stoppard play "jumpers"). I don't just mean culturally relative, but that a given action can take on vastly different moral implications with only minor changes of scenery.
on a slightly less theoretical level, I also think those kinds of situations are just as unrealistic as perfectly happy endings, because no plan ever goes of perfectly, no matter how brilliant the execution. Hannibal, Alexander, and many others had "the perfect plan" but they could never carry it through to a lasting execution. The ending of watchmen and the matrix has the same flavor for me: brilliant or powerful people make a decision that involves some sort of terrible sacrifice, but in the end it falls on lesser men/women to make use of that decision.
--Jason 15:39, 8 May 2007 (MST)Im not sure I understand what Ben is trying to say here but I agree with what I believe is his intent. The actual plan Oz had is pretty farcical, and in some ways that tarnishes the ending of the story. For me what made Watchmen good was the way the story unfolded and the actual storytelling devices. Its strange because I am a very 'conclusions' sort of person, but even though I found the ending less than ideal I still liked the story overall.
--208.146.45.110 16:38, 8 May 2007 (MST)I do agree with that, it was very well put together and the characters were cool as well.
--Edmiao 22:02, 8 May 2007 (MST) I'll agree with you, the ending was kind of crazy, but i loved it. it was so over the top and there was a giant squid! But the book was more about the characters really. and also, as jason notes, the mechanism of storytelling. I liked how they mixed the pirate comic book with the present story, the parallels were very nicely set up.
--Matts 10:38, 10 May 2007 (MST)I always liked the ending of Watchmen. I'm always a little let down when a story goes out of its way to deliver a happy or affecting ending. Some stories end with a whimper, and when a story leaves the viewer to assemble their own conclusions it's a sign of respect, I think.
--Gdaze 11:39, 17 April 2007 (MST) That being said, I wouldn't mind having a board game night now and then. My dad would also be interested in joining, and would most likely clean the floor with us. We wouldn't even need to have everyone. Also if anyone is interested in some heroscape I'd be totally down too.
Also, what did you guys think of the fantasy thing? I haven't showed it to the group I'm running it with yet (save Dieter).
--Edmiao 22:16, 22 April 2007 (MST) Love to do board games sometime. Cheryl would likely join us. Interested in Heroscape, never tried it but sounds fun.
Dune BITCHES!!!!!
So Im almost done reading Dune, and since you jokers are playing in a space game I thought you might be interested in the following activity. I have purchased the David Lynch version of Dune, and the Sci Fi Channel Dune and Children of Dune miniseries'. My plan is to have a megaDune marathon some weekend day. Skippy got a new super huge HD widescreen tv, and it would be perfect for this event. Anyone who wishes to attend is invited. If interested, let me know what day would work best.
--Matts 14:15, 11 May 2007 (MST)Dude, did you get the original like "Tv version" of the lynch Dune that's god-knows how long?? The Sci-fi channel one is pretty good.
--Jason 14:22, 11 May 2007 (MST)I got the 3 hour version of the Lynch one, that isnt actually one of his cuts. It also has the theatrical version on the same disc.
The Next Step in Exemplars
The Next Step in Gemini
Moved to Ship's Log
--Dieter the Bold 14:09, 10 May 2007 (MST) Present and interested in pizza. Also, since it's now only 1 vote to go archeology searching, I think we can outvote Aedil and make some more money doing something more worthwhile.
Gabe - I'll drive pretty much anywhere, except doing missions for Mike or Mick or whatever his name isn't.
Ed - Don't make me whine. i went to diomedes on matts bitch run. what are our characters interested in doing fish runs for all eternity, that gets a bit trite.
