Janelle

Janelle is an African-American girl who lives a short distance down the Cloquallum road from the Wilson farmstead. She is 19 years old, single and lives with her parents and infant daughter.
Say what you will about the irresponsibility of a single teen mother, but Janelle does her best to take care of her child and assist with her folks. Before the Sweeps, she held a job in Olympia.
A few days after the Sweeps, she went fishing in a nearby stream to help bolster their dwindling food supply. It was at this time, on her way back to her house, that she was jumped by members of the Pershing clan and kidnapped. Doug Wilson witnessed the crime and led the rescue effort.
Janelle is now positively disposed toward her neighbor Doug and his associates AJ Kamastafall and Brock Jankins. She is less impressed by Marie Kjelstad because while Doug, AJ and Brock cleared the rest of the gang out of the abandoned house they were going to imprison her in, Marie was tasked with keeping the hostage safe and calm. Marie failed abjectly on the latter task, pointedly questioning how on earth Janelle could allow herself to be kidnapped like that. Janelle is convinced that Marie is a "crazy bitch," without understanding that she suffers from chronic foot-in-mouth disease.
