Professor Jenkins

Professor Everett Jenkins was the head of the Physics department at the University of Washington. He has few friends and no family, and when the Sweeps came, he went to the campus and was ultimately unsuccessful in his attempts to talk Professor Marlowe into leaving and getting to somewhere safe. With the realization that thousands and thousands of hypersonic meteors completely destroyed the whole concept of "somewhere safe," Jenkins chose to remain at the UW with his friend, expecting to die when the next hail of meteors came.
Jenkins' salvation came in the form of an angel named Marie Kjelstad, a former student looking to recruit some eggheads. Jenkins told her about Marlowe, and with the promise that she wanted them both to continue their research, she was able to get them off campus and into Brock's stolen floatplane and back to Elma.
